What does it take to make a learning game for quantum physics?
Get a peek behind the scenes of Qookies — a quantum puzzle adventure game set to release this summer. In a new video, some of the people behind the project share their experiences and insights from the development process.
Qookies is a mobile learning game that playfully introduces players to complex quantum phenomena and technologies. Through puzzles set in a quantum laboratory, players explore the fundamentals of quantum physics in an accessible, low-threshold way.
The game is developed as part of the GALaQSci project, coordinated by the Didactics of Physics at LMU Munich and funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space. Development is led by Quantum Gaming and Studio Merkas, with scientific consultancy from research groups at LMU Munich, TU Munich (TUM), and the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (MPQ). MCQST and MQV serve as outreach partners, supporting the communication of project results and the promotion of the game.
Qookies is planned for release in summer 2026 — stay tuned!
