The MCQST Colloquium Series features interdisciplinary talks given by visiting international speakers. The monthly colloquium covers topics spanning all MCQST research areas and will be broadcast live via Zoom for audiences worldwide. The main goal of the series is to create the framework for idea exchange, to strengthen links with QST leading groups worldwide, as well as to act as an integral part of the local educational environment.

Effective Collaboration in Doctoral Supervision

Purpose

The purpose of this colloquium talk is to inspire doctoral researchers and supervisors to co-create a productive and trust-based collaboration. In this talk, you will be introduced to research-based hands-on strategies and tools for:

  • Aligning expectations early and regularly
  • Communicating effectively in supervision
  • Giving and receiving constructive feedback
  • Managing potential conflicts that can arise in supervision

This talk is open to everyone, from students (master’s or PhD) to postdocs and PIs.

Format

The talk is interactive and allows you to briefly share experiences and discuss supervision. It is held in English.


About Gitte Wichmann-Hansen

Dr. Gitte Wichmann-Hansen, Professor at University of Agder, and owner of the consultancy Academic Supervision that offers high quality professional training of research supervisors.
She is an established publishing researcher within the field of supervision, and she has 20+ years of experience with running workshops for supervisors at all career stages across universities, internationally.
