Supporting scientific Exchange and International Collaboration
MCQST supports scientific exchange and international collaboration through its dedicated Guest Program. The program aims to bring outstanding researchers to Munich, fostering meaningful interactions with the MCQST community and enabling the exchange of expertise, ideas, and know-how across institutions and disciplines.
By hosting international guests, MCQST strengthens its research network and creates opportunities for long-lasting collaborations. The Guest Program is funded by the Munich Quantum Center.
Eligibility Criteria for Guest Support
The Guest Program provides funding for research visits lasting 2-6 weeks from invited, internationally renowned researchers. To ensure sustainability and facilitate genuine scientific exchange with the MCQST community, visits shorter than two weeks cannot be supported.
To qualify for Guest Support, the following conditions must be met:
- The guest must be a high-profile researcher (ideally, tenured professor; exceptionally, also at the level of Asst. Prof.)
- Potential collaboration with at least two PIs of MCQST
- Nomination supported by at least three PIs
- Visit between 2 and 6 weeks (longer stays must be (co-)funded from other sources)
- Available budget: up to €6.000 / guest (it can be combined with other resources)
In addition to financial support, the MCQST office can assist with organizational and logistical aspects of the visit, including: travel coordination, visa-related questions, accommodation, office space, communication and visibility (e.g. announcements within the community and on the MCQST website). We appreciate your understanding that support can be provided only if capacity permits. Please ensure that the office is informed well in advance and provided with all relevant details of the planned visit.
Who can apply?
All MCQST members (associated and core members) are eligible to apply for Guest Support. Guests cannot self-nominate for support.
- Applications are reviewed by the MCQST Executive Committee (EC), which decides whether the visit can be supported by MCQST.
- The visit should begin no earlier than six weeks after the application deadline to allow the EC sufficient time for review.
Application deadlines 2026:
Mar 31 / Jun 15 / Sep 15 / Dec 15
