PhD Survival Tips: How to Navigate your PhD Journey

We are excited to announce the launch of a new video series designed to help PhD students survive and thrive during their journey!

Going for a PhD can be a very rewarding and enriching experience. However, it can also be challenging in different ways.The “PhD Survival Tips” feature advice and insight of MCQST and IMPRS-QST alumni and experienced PhD students who have been through the process themselves. Drawing on their own personal experiences and successes, they offer practical tips and strategies to make the most of the PhD journey, while tackling issues that may come along the way. Tune in to learn how to handle the unique challenges of the PhD stage, from balancing research and personal life to finding the right mentors, staying healthy, and more.

In the kick-off episode, Caroline de Groot shares insight into her experience and offers hands-on tips on getting unstuck, finding inspiration, and staying healthy. Caroline de Groot finished her PhD in June 2022 with the dissertation entitled “Topological Phases, Symmetries and Open Systems” from TUM, as part of the IMPRS-QST graduate school.

The PhD Survival Tips series is a joint project by the Munich Center for Quantum Science and Technology (MCQST) and the International Max Planck Research School for Quantum Science and Technology (IMPRS-QST).
