Networking

Networking

Scientific exchange is a cornerstone of a researcher’s life and lies at the heart of our growing community. Together with networking, it is why we organize scientific conferences.

This year, we are not able to meet face to face and to welcome you in Munich. We will miss the get-together, the discussions and exchange of ideas over delicious bavarian food and drinks. The current situation may not be ideal, however, we do have an excellent lineup of speakers, a remarkable community, and together, we will make the best out of this situation.

Let us look at this as an opportunity to test a new format of conferences and get-togethers, which has a lower impact on the environment and family life. We are convinced the #MCQST2020 conference will be inspiring, engaging, as well as comfortable, provided you have a nice office chair or a cosy spot on your home-office couch.

Interactivity takes the stage

Beside the talks, which will take place on the main stage, there will be various opportunities to contact and interact with other participants: during the live poster sessions or the virtual coffee breaks. It is our hope that by creating a welcoming 3D environment and integrating it with a dedicated video-chat system, you will get to make the most out of the #MCQST2020 experience.

Each registered participant will receive an email a week before the conference. This will include a link to our partner – Meet Anyway – where you will be invited to create an account, necessary in order to access the virtual conference and to use the interactivity and video chat functionalities. You will need to provide your name, email, and a photo. Having this account will allow you to navigate the virtual space and see who else is attending the event or is at the networking tables and you can interact with them instantly, just like in real life.

Science meets industry

On Tuesday, 7 July 2020, we are hosting an engaging Science meets Industry session to foster the exchange between academic and industrial research. The field of quantum technologies is growing fast. With closer collaborations, we believe this development will be accelerated even further.

Companies working in QST from the Munich area are invited to give a short presentation about their profiles and QST related activities. Afterwards, the session will go on with an engaging panel discussion. Many of the participanting companies will be available for discussions via video chat at their virtual booth (dedicated Industry room) to answer any questions as well as to establish meaningful relationships or foster new collaborations. We expect many interested students and PhD graduates to join, curious to learn more about job opportunities in QST in Munich.
